With 400 years of history, The Matsumoto Castle has become a National Treasure as the oldest five structured /six story castle in Japan. It is known as the “Crow Castle” because of its black exterior. I’ve always seen this beautiful castle while searching “Things to do in Japan” on Google. However it was too far from Yokosuka for me to visit. But luckily the MWR added this trip to the list and I was ready for a trip! BREATHTAKING. Honestly, just breathtaking. And it was photogenic from every single angle. I was surprised that it was located in an open park. There was an admission to visit the grounds and inside though. We opted out of the inside tour because there was a no shoe policy. I really didn’t feel like removing my hiking boots ha-ha. This beautiful castle should definitely be on everyone’s Japan Bucket list.
