WAIKIKI BEACH

08.19.2017

FUN FACTS:

--Waikiki Beach draws millions of tourism to its white sands and turquoise waters each year, accounting for approximately 42 percent of the state’s tourist industry revenue, roughly $2 billion annually.

--Waikiki Beach may be incredibly famous, but it is actually a series of five beaches. From Ewa to Diamond Head, these beaches include Duke Kahanamoku, Fort DeRussy, Gray’s, Waikiki and Kuhio.

--Waikiki is translated to “spouting waters” in Hawaiian.

--This famous beach attracts 72,000 visitors on any given day, accounting for nearly half of all tourists across the state of Hawaii.

--Waikiki is the birthplace of modern surfing: the father of modern surfing, Duke Kahanamoku grew up in Waikiki, where the Royal Hawaiian Hotel stands today.

--We definitely went to Waikiki beach multiple times during our trip. During the day trip, we would visit the beach, but at night we would stroll the strip. There is nothing better than laying on a white sand beach with clear blue water to relax after an action packed day. I remember all the high end flagship stores, palm trees lit up with lights, souvenir shops, flip flops, swimsuits, and surf boards. Waikiki screams Hawaii Five-O minus Garret lol. I plan on visiting Hawaii again soon to take my mom on vacation and to purchase my first Chanel purse. Whoop Whoop!
