I am Black History 🖤

My art reflects the legacy I want to leave by honoring the women who made me—specifically Black women. I was raised by a community of powerful women: my mother, my grandmas, my aunties, my mentors. Their love, resilience, and sacrifice shaped every part of who I am. Yet so often, their strength goes unseen or unspoken. My work is my way of giving them their flowers while they are still here to receive them.

Although I paint different subjects, I paint mainly Black women because I paint from lived experience. I am a reflection of them—their beauty, their complexity, their softness, their fire. Every piece carries the emotion, memory, and truth they poured into me. My legacy isn’t just about images on a canvas; it’s about creating a space where Black women feel celebrated, valued, and deeply seen. 💐

3 years ago, I said fuck it and launched Onaytonie & Company, LLC. Created my 1st collection, built my website, and shared it with the world. I was so scared. Hopped on a flight to Vegas. When I landed, I was sold out. Being an entrepreneur is HARD. Clocking in once I clock out, long nights, blind faith, self doubt, and prayers. And trust me, I had to fight for this.

But my God, it’s worth it. Thank you to everyone who owns a piece of my art. All the sweatshirts, hoodies, shirts, art prints, custom clothes, paint classes.. everything! This is my passion, I don’t do it for profit.. so thank you from the depths of my soul.

Three whole years and I haven’t lost my mind yet. And to that I say, HELL YEAH. 🥂🎉♥️🫶🏾
